The Revelation of Truth Through Meditation
European BOTA Conference, April 2025
Welcome to all who are here in this beautiful place in Barcelona! Today we are gathered together to celebrate being together through the collective power of our love and light for each other and the world. We come from near and far and from many countries to celebrate the beginning of the Age of Humanity in Aquarius. So now let us examine how to increase this love and light through the revelation of truth by the Aquarian agency of meditation.
The third stage of spiritual unfoldment is represented in Tarot by Key 17 is Revelation. We can define revelation as unveiling, disclosure, and discovery. This discovery is made to us who seek the truth. On this Key we see Isis unveiled which is why the figure is nude. The nude figure symbolically is shown to us as a representation of that which is right before our eyes, if only we have eyes to see. However, we can’t see this deeper truth until we can still the reasoning mind and quiet the senses.
The Hebrew letter depicted here on Key 17 is that of Tzaddi, or the fishhook. A fishhook is a symbol for angling for something using research and experimentation as we seek for truth. We are actually fishing for information such as a fisherman seeks a fish on the hook. This fishhook is the agency by which we endeavor to solve problems or mysteries. It is a means to discover secrets.
Meditation is the agency symbolized by this fishhook. As a fisherman is seeking out a fish and focusing his or her attention on this quest, so is the act of meditation also seeking an answer. Meditation can be seen as close, continuous thought dwelling on one central idea, or fishing for truth. Even worrying can is a form of meditation, but this is a form of fear and separation which does not help us find the truth to a situation or condition.
In order to practice correct meditation is to focus all of our attention on an answer to our problem. First, we must silence the chatter of the mind and sit quietly. As we come to understand that we do not discover truth but receive it, we must understand that our mental quest must be one of active quest and receptivity. We must not be content just to sit still in the hope of receiving enlightenment but be still to be intent on receiving light on our problem. In Lesson #37, Tarot Fundamentals, Paul Case says, “As the poet says, we must invite the soul. In this attitude, we are able to hear the Voice of the Hierophant and he will speak distinctly and definitely.” We can only hear the Real Voice when we can sit still by turning off our endless chatter about the day’s events and experience the present, not the past or the future, but the present moment. Our minds like to dwell on the imaginary future or the dead past, rarely focusing on the present moment, which few of us are able to do.
Later in the same lesson, Paul Case goes on to state, “Nature does not hide herself from us. The veil which conceals truth is the veil of human ignorance, the veil of man’s foolish belief in his own separateness and mortality and this veil may be removed by the practice of meditation.”
Recently the planet Pluto has moved into the energy field of Aquarius of which Key 17 represents, of Isis Unveiled. This year will be a huge year of unveiling the truth and of disclosure of previous hidden secrets. The planet Pluto represents change and Aquarius represents Truth, so we will see great change through the agency of revealing the truth whether or not we are ready to see it. This also means that we too can partake of this unveiling of truth as we seek our own higher visions of transformation for ourselves. In our studies in this Order, we are instructed in many ways through our lessons to participate in the many meditations to evolve our personalities. It is only through the transformation of our personalities can we begin to receive the Higher instruction in our quest for truth and our own spiritual enlightenment.
By using Tarot Key 17, we will come to understand the application of eternal truth to all problems we face in this incarnate experience we call life. All instruction in B.O.T.A. is practical as long as we do the work as instructed. Then we will know how to see the truth of what is behind this illusion of nature as Isis unveils herself to our trained eyes. During this weekend, let us enter into quiet places in these beautiful surroundings in order to quiet our minds and receive the knowledge and information we seek. All we need to do is ask, and we will receive that which we need to see.
From the Book of Tokens on the mediation on Tzaddi:
“Men think they seek me,
But it is I who seek them.
No other seeker is there than myself,
And when I find mine own,
The pain of questing is at an end.
The fish graspeth the hook,
Thinking to find food,
But the fisherman is the enjoyer of the meal.
